There are so many things that draw me to this painting: the combination of turquoise and red, the soft lines of the mother's dress against the square angles of the window. The dark red carpet. The intensity of the night's sky. The small town. The angel peeking in the window. How completely engrossed the mother is in her book.
The faces on Kershisnik's babies and children are so delightful.
Also...
The texture, size and color of Kershisnik's paintings do not transfer to the page.
Seeing them in person under gallery lighting is an experience not to be missed.

lovely painting. i like how the angel peeking in gives a divine quality to an otherwise ordinary scene. as if to remind us how special those moments really are!
